Polymer clay is a synthetic material (PVC) that is available in a wide variety of colours.
It is worked by hand to create many different patterns and textures. The completed pieces
are then cured in an oven. No paint is used to create the finished product. This is the official version. Here's my version: WOW! Polymer clay is pure pleasure to work with and it allows me to achieve an extraordinary range of effects. I tell myself stories and those stories come to life in unique pieces that comprise patterns, beadwork, metallic powder…to name but a few. My motto is "why make it simple when I can make it complicated!" I don't keep track of the efforts and even less the hours I spend in creating details that will make all the difference. I enjoy myself, period! I love colours and I love to lose myself in my naïve and whimsical world. About millefiori
Millefiori is a technique borrowed from Murano glass working in Italy. Strands of
clay having different shapes and colours are placed side by side to form a cane. The cane
is lengthened and then cut into sections. The sections are once more placed side by side
to form a new cane. This step is repeated until the final product, when examined crosswise,
presents the desired pattern and colours. Thin slices are cut off the cane and then worked
to create flowers, leaves, fabric patterns, etc. Each piece is entirely hand-made and cannot be anything other than exclusive. Each flower is made individually, as is each feather, each toe, each wave, each village… Phew! I'm running out of breath just saying it!
Skinner techniqueGradations are created using the Skinner technique, named in honour of Judith Skinner who invented it.
